Stiesdal SkyClean has developed and operated pyrolysis plants across three generations of scale-up. That experience now supports customers developing carbon removal and energy projects of their own.

Energy offtake is equally important. Around half of the energy contained in the feedstock is converted into pyrolysis gas, making access to a nearby heat customer a key contributor to project economics.


Operation of the 20 MW plant has demonstrated industrial-scale integration of pyrolysis with biogas production, validating continuous operation, heat utilisation, and large-scale carbon removal under commercial conditions.

The 2 MW pilot plant enabled continuous operation, process optimisation and validation of system performance, supporting the design of industrial-scale plants.

Operation of the 200 kW test plant provided key insights into feedstock handling, process stability and biochar quality, forming the basis for scaling to pilot level.
In addition to our own SkyClean plants, we work with research institutions, industry partners and public organisations to develop and scale solutions for carbon removal and low-carbon energy systems.
Through these collaborations, we combine expertise across disciplines to advance technology, explore new applications and reduce emissions across sectors.
