Approach: The project tested slurry acidification using organic acids, treated digested biomass, installed a post-digestion gas tank, optimised biochar processing (drying, pelletising, pyrolysis), and explored better farmland applications. The overall impact on emissions and biogas was assessed and scaled up, alongside an analysis of regulatory and market barriers.
Expected results: The insights and results are expected to contribute to a potential reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from Danish animal production by 1.1 million tons of CO₂e per year.
